A Morning Bike Ride

We are about to finish a two-week vacation on Cape Cod. One of my favorite things to do is to get up at dawn and go for a long bike ride.

There’s something rejuvenating about biking in the coolness of a summer’s dawn, with only the sounds of awaking birds and the rhythmic whir of a bicycle as company.

Today, I went off the beaten path and was rewarded with the view below, from Coast Guard Beach. The landscape seemed familiar. I remembered taking my mother to this same spot about 20 years ago, before her first bout with cancer.

I had not been back since. So much has changed over the years. It was good to remember a time when she was still with us, healthy and happy.

I hope everyone will have the chance to recharge this summer.
