Redemption and Shaka

April 30, 2016April 30, 2016 Jo Tango

It has been an interesting week. Serendipities about writing and choices. First, I read Frank Britt’s article about how we write our own life stories and have the ability to change our paths. Then, Anne Mitchell wrote a comment in response, mentioning a Jeff Bezos idea that we are the sum of the choices we make.

‘Top 5 Regrets of the Dying’

April 29, 2016October 25, 2022 Jo Tango

When my friend Mike Connell told me he was going into hospice, my heart broke. When my mother started receiving palliative care, everything changed. I know, I know. This is a morbid post. But, bear with me. Ever since Amazon.com’s Jeff Bezos told me about his desire to avoid life regrets, I’ve been trying to

Let me explain. I wrote recently about the need to check less frequently my digital devices. When I entered the business world, I was

‘Boys in the Boat’ and Human Rights

January 8, 2016May 1, 2024 Jo Tango

I recently read Boys in the Boat, and I highly recommend it. The book chronicles a group of working-class men who learn how to row, compete for the University of Washington, and eventually, represent the USA at the 1936 Olympics in Nazi Germany. If you liked Unbroken and Seabiscuit, I think you’ll really like this book.

Living the Cave Man VC Life

January 4, 2016January 4, 2016 Jo Tango

I recently read the book Sapiens and really enjoyed it. Author Yuval Harari does an incredible job of covering 2 million years of human development. I really recommend the book and am grateful to Nick Ducoff for suggesting it. I found it fascinating to read how early humans survived by hunting for animals or foraging for
