Note to Section F: ‘High Standards, High Care’

Dear Section F:

Hello!

It was such a privilege to spend three days with you. I marvel at how kind, resolute, and selfless you were, even at the beginning. All this bodes well for your Section.

We covered much ground and so I want to share slides, which I sent to your fall-semester faculty. I tried to summarize our time together.

I do want to add two additional slides. I hope you will remember them as you “begin the beginning” of what I promise will be a transformative HBS experience.

As Kelly Rooney and Teddy Kassa, the second-year students, shared: There will be many high points and low points in the coming months, but the key for them seemed to be the Section. I hope the two slides also remind you that our faculty and staff stand with you each and every day.

You are ready for HBS. You belong here. Apply “high standards, high care” to each other and to yourself, and all will be well.

Last, as mentioned at the end of START, all of us at HBS are strivers. But may you all co-create a Section culture so that when you each walk through that door each morning, you will feel liked, respected, and seen. Because in your classroom, with your Section, you are already enough.

Fondly,

Jo
