We’re happy to announce that our family angel program (back 80+ entrepreneurs over eight years and donate all gains to charity; details here) has invested in Varuna. It is our 19th investment so far (portfolio here).
The company uses AI to improve water quality for cities and towns, which is a growing need and for which tech is a great solution. A family friend, Lauren Kieff, introduced us to them.
Co-Founders Jamail Carter and Seyi Fabode have a great deal of determination. We met them before the pandemic. Through a great deal of grit, they closed their round last July. (Sorry that my VC and teaching jobs were all-consuming last semester.)
You can read more here about the company and the $1.5MM seed round.
Thank you, Jamail and Seyi, for letting us invest! Thank you, Lauren, for the intro!
