Chilling Out on NYD

We today, on New Year’s Day, drove from Jay Peak for four hours straight, no stops.

It was a stress-free drive, with clear and dry roads. There’s not much snow in New England right now, although I suspect we will get plenty in the coming weeks. Skiing during Christmas week is hit or miss, depending on the cold fronts.

But, we had a good time. The days when we all can be together are becoming fewer, as our children get older and ready to leave the nest.

As for me, this evening, I’m doing the usual things: some laundry, paying bills, and streaming football (my pick is Alabama over Ohio State). I’m also drinking a last bottle of Switchback Ale, a Vermont beer that you can’t get here in Massachusetts.

Some of our children are doing the usual things: watching some media, playing video games, and making plans to go out with friends. I hear giggling coming from upstairs.

We still have a few days of vacation left, and I’m looking forward to just chilling out. The skiing, good meals, and staying at a ski resort were all fun. But, it is awesome to be back.

It’s good to be home.
