I’m super excited to be moderating a Q&A session with Josh Kopelman of First Round Capital at a New England VC Association coffee event on Dec. 13. Click here to register; we expect the event to sell out quickly.
I met Josh a few years ago, and we had the opportunity for a few days to brainstorm with other VCs about our industry and what could be done better. He had a flurry of amazing ideas.
I’ve long admired what Josh and his partners have been putting into action, and how they state up-front their goal of disruption. Here’s what the First Round web site says:
We’re turning venture capital on its head. We’re re-imagining venture capital from the ground up to help founders win. We invest at idea inception – and build technology and services to connect our entrepreneurs with resources and each other to maximize their impact.
From their Dorm Room Fund to their holiday videos (see the 2012 version below or click here) to an insanely-crisp articulation of who they are and what they do for entrepreneurs, Josh’s vision, insights and charisma naturally come through.
As you may recall, the New England VC Association is on a push to sponsor more rich and more frequent get-togethers. From having speakers like Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg and Foundry’s Brad Feld, to the regular Coffee Connect discussions that Rob May and Sravish Sridhar have been leading, to the blow-out-and-bring-the-Advil NEVY Award Nights, it has been a fun and engaging time.
Hope to see you on December 13! Thank you, Josh, for making the time to come visit.
